Can You Sue Roblox? Child Exploitation Claims Explained

Families suing Roblox say predators used the platform to find children, gain their trust and then exploit, extort or assault them.

In December 2025 the U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation consolidated federal cases as MDL No. 3166, In re: Roblox Corporation Child Sexual Exploitation and Assault Litigation. Roblox disputes the claims and says it bans grooming and exploitative behavior and invests heavily in safety systems.

Where the Roblox Litigation Stands: MDL No. 3166

On December 12, 2025, the Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation formed MDL No. 3166, In re: Roblox Corporation Child Sexual Exploitation and Assault Litigation. According to the transfer order, plaintiffs allege children were targeted and groomed on Roblox and, in some cases, sexually assaulted.

Keep in mind: Consolidation does not mean Roblox has been found liable or that anyone will be paid. It simply groups federal cases with shared issues for pretrial proceedings.

Roblox says it does not knowingly put users at risk and that its rules ban grooming, sexual conversation, exploitation and child sexual abuse material. It points to its reporting tools, moderation, age-based features, parental controls and cooperation with law enforcement.

What the Lawsuits Against Roblox Allege

Broadly, the suits claim that Roblox's design, moderation, age checks, communication features and handling of reports did not protect children from predators the company should have anticipated. These claims still have to be proven.

Age and Identity Checks

Whether safeguards actually stopped adults from posing as kids or contacting children.

Chat and Social Features

In-game messaging, friend and group tools, voice and text chat, and how conversations moved to other apps.

Moderation and Reports

How reports were handled, what moderators did, account histories and whether patterns were caught.

User-Created Experiences

Some claims involve sexualized user-created games, often called "condo games."

Grooming That Moves Off Roblox

Predators allegedly build trust in a game, then push the child to Discord, Snapchat or another service.

Resulting Injury

Harms claimed include psychological trauma, treatment costs, school problems, financial exploitation and physical assault.

Who Can Sue Roblox?

  • Children groomed or sexually exploited after contact began on Roblox.
  • Children pressured for sexual images or videos, money, gift cards, Robux or in-person meetings.
  • Children sexually abused or assaulted after contact that started or was facilitated on Roblox.
  • Children exposed to explicit sexual content or exploitative interactions inside a Roblox experience.
  • Parents or guardians seeking a review for an affected child.
  • Adults looking at a claim for abuse that happened when they were minors.
Every case is different. An attorney has to review what happened, the platform connection, the evidence, the harm, the possible defendants, state law and the deadline.

Roblox "Condo Games" and Sexual Content

"Condo games" is the name used for user-made experiences built to slip past Roblox's rules and host explicit roleplay or sexualized avatars. Claims involving this content may need evidence identifying the game, usernames, dates, reports, screenshots, account data and any contact that followed.

Please do not ask a child to go back into unsafe content, contact the person again or recreate evidence. Keep what already exists and let professionals guide the next steps.

Evidence That Supports a Roblox Claim

Platform Evidence

Usernames, profile links, game names, groups, screenshots, reports, moderation notices and account records.

Off-Platform Communications

Texts, email, Discord or social media messages, phone records, images, videos and device details.

Law-Enforcement Records

Police reports, forensic exams, charging papers, protective orders and criminal case details where they exist.

Medical and Counseling Records

Therapy, psychiatric and medical records, diagnoses, medications, prognosis and treatment costs.

School and Family Observations

Attendance, grades, behavior changes, accommodations, caregiver notes and witness accounts.

Financial Evidence

Robux, gift cards, payment app transfers, purchases, extortion payments, lost income and out-of-pocket costs.

Keep everything: Do not delete accounts, messages, devices, reports, payment records or screenshots, and avoid editing files. A lawyer can send formal preservation requests.

What Affects the Value of a Roblox Claim

The Roblox litigation is still developing, and no approved payout schedule exists. Anyone promising a fixed or guaranteed amount is misleading you.

Roblox Lawsuit Questions

Is Roblox safe for kids?

Roblox says it prohibits grooming and exploitation and offers reporting, blocking, parental controls, age-based features and moderation. The lawsuits claim those protections fell short in specific cases. Safety depends heavily on settings, supervision and reporting.

Can a parent sue on a child's behalf?

Often yes. A parent or guardian may bring a civil claim for a minor, depending on state law, who the proper plaintiff is and whether court approval is required.

Can we still sue if the offender was prosecuted?

Yes. A criminal case does not block a separate civil claim, which can involve different defendants, duties, evidence, standards of proof and damages.

What evidence helps most?

Usernames, screenshots, chats, account records, platform reports, police reports, counseling or medical records, school records, payment records, devices and messages that moved to other apps.

How long do we have to file?

It depends on the state, and special rules often apply to minors and childhood sexual abuse. Have an attorney check the deadline as soon as possible.

Is there a set Roblox settlement amount?

No. There is no approved payout schedule. Value depends on what happened, the injury, the evidence, causation, the court, the defendants, available insurance or assets and the outcome of the litigation.
