In the aftermath of the September 11 attacks, first responders, workers, residents and students breathed in toxic dust and debris, and many have since been diagnosed with cancer or respiratory disease. 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund eligibility and WTC Health Program enrollment can extend to anyone who lived, worked, attended school or volunteered in the Lower Manhattan exposure zone from September 11, 2001 through May 30, 2002.
